What I do

I organize information so people can find it. For nearly twenty years that has meant a school library: building the collection, cataloging it, and teaching students how to find and judge information.

Now I bring the same work to data. I build taxonomies and controlled vocabularies, write metadata that both people and machines can use, and evaluate how AI systems handle information. I am finishing a Master of Data Science at the University of Pittsburgh and looking for remote work in taxonomy, metadata, and data.

How I think about it

A record points to something real. A catalog record points to a book, and a row in a dataset points to a person. Good description keeps that connection intact, so the people at the other end of the data stay visible to whoever uses it.
